The Bikes

2 Thorn Nomad MK2's.
One Matt Black and the Other Bright Yellow, christened 'Yellow Narna' by Debs! Sold to us by Thorn's bike designer Andy Blance.
General specification can be found on Thorn Cycles website www.thorncycles.co.uk

Extras specified by us were:

Brooks B17 Saddles (Hoping to love not loathe them :) )
CSS (Carbide Super Sonic) Rigida Andra rims. Should hopefully last a little longer, although they do require specific brake blocks.
Wheels drilled for Schrader tubes, much easier to put an adaptor on a Presta tube than try and fit a Schrader valve through a too small hole!
Rohloff EX disc in black anodised, future proofed for little extra money.
Shimano XT front hub, for extra durability.
Thorn comfort bars with Ergon GP-1 grips.
Thorn accessory bar, to free up some handle bar space.
Thorn front and rear racks.
3 Bottle cages each.
Cateye TL-LD1100 rear lights. Have turned out to be rubbish. One jettisoned its battery cover and the other one fell off!

Items not supplied by Thorn:

Wellgo Flat pedals,
2 Mirrycle Mountain Mirrors.
2 Cateye Enduro 8 cycle computers.
2 Knog Frog front LED lights each. More for tunnels and bad weather, we have no real intention of riding at night

Lots of touring bikes out there, but it was nice to buy British from a small specialist company.
Plus the UK Pound was so poor against the Euro that many of the Dutch and German Bikes didn't offer such good value!
